Carrie Lane is our Administrative Assistant. She has worked as a paraeducator for 10 years with preschoolers, sixth graders and all grades in between, and enjoys them all. Being in the office allows her to connect with all students and their families. Carrie brings joy, creativity and a nurturing approach to the school community. She lives in Jamaica VT with her husband, daughter and 3 fur babies.

Kelly is thrilled to be the Principal at Academy School, where she attended grades K-4 herself! This is her 9th year as Principal, and her 22nd year in the field of education. Prior to becoming Principal, Kelly spent a year as Assistant Principal at Academy. Before that, Kelly taught a range of grades from K-8 in RI, MA, and here in Vermont at Vernon Elementary School, Oak Grove Elementary School and at Academy. Kelly's favorite part of the day is greeting students and families in front of the building.
Kelly received her B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Vermont; her M. Ed. in Special Education from Rhode Island College, and her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Educational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University.
When she's not at school, Kelly enjoys spending time with her family and their four cats and dog; as well as her local extended family members. Kelly loves to spend time outside- golfing and swimming in the warmer months, and cross country and downhill skiing in the colder months. She also loves to read! Kelly is so proud of the Academy School staff and family community, and she is looking forward to another great year ahead!

Sam is excited to step into her new position as Assistant Principal this year and looks forward to partnering with families and teachers to support student success.
This upcoming school year marks Sam’s fourth year at Academy and her 20th year in the field of education. Some of you already know her from her role as the Special Education Case Manager. Previously, she taught first and second grade at Twin Valley Elementary School in Wilmington, Vermont, where she also was a K–5 special educator for many years.
Sam earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and an Elementary Education certification from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She also holds a Special Education certificate from Castleton State College through the Vermont Higher Education Collaborative. Sam holds a Master of Education from Southern New Hampshire University, where she completed additional coursework and internships in educational leadership.
Outside of school, Sam enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, Brad, and their three children, Misi, Mandi, and Kaleb.
