With over two decades of teaching experience, Laureen joined the first-grade team at Academy in 2013. She is passionate about creating a strong classroom community where students feel a deep sense of belonging and empowerment. Laureen encourages her students to engage in meaningful work that connects to their lives and communities, fostering both academic growth and the development of important character traits like integrity, responsibility, and empathy.

Laureen believes in the power of real-world learning experiences and works to make education relevant and impactful for her students. She values collaboration and the collective learning process, helping her students thrive in a supportive, close-knit environment.

Outside of school, Laureen lives in Brattleboro with her husband, three children, and pets. She enjoys mountain biking and trail running on the local trails, and skiing throughout Vermont.
